How long does my video have to be?
Videos must be no longer than three minutes in length and be in English.
What should the topic of my video be focused on?
Your video must be well aligned with one of United Way’s issue areas of child poverty or bullying or senior isolation within B.C. Your video answers the question: What does one of these issues mean to me and how do I care to change it?
Is this competition open to residents outside of British Columbia?
No, you must live in British Columbia.
Can I enter more than one video?
Unfortunately, we will only be accepting one video entry per person or group/team.
What format should the video be in?
Videos may be in black and white or colour and may be enhanced with graphics, special effects, animation or music.HD submissions are ideal but not a requirement. Preference will not be given to HD submissions.
Can I use background music in my video?
Yes! The sound and technical quality must be of a good standard. Any music used must be original (made by you), or used with the permission of the musician. See the Toolkit for links to music.

I work for an organization that runs a United Way fundraising campaign, can my organization enter a video?
Yes, you can enter your video in the Workplace Category. Your video will be judged by our expert judging panel against other workplace videos only. Your video will also be posted online for a chance to win the Viewer’s Choice Award. Winners will be announced at our Spirit Awards event. Check back on this website for details on Care to Change in 2015/2016.
How will Adult, Youth and Workplace and Special Mention video category winners be judged?
A panel of judges, chaired by Emmy award judge and FanTrust President, Catherine Warren, will be looking at a variety of criteria to pick the Care to Change video competition winners.
How will the Viewer’s Choice winner be judged?
The Viewers’ Choice winner will be decided by public online voting.
