The video and message have no correlation. The bullying still happened and the bully left, unpunished to do it again tomorrow, except next time, the girl may not be there to give the victim a hand. I expected the video to go in the direction of the bully pushing the kid down and everyone in the hallway noticing it and making a stand. Though very mildly supportive, it is certainly not a more positive world.
To add to what I said, helping the victims is not enough to make a big difference – the victims are still there and will remain that way. We need a system to punish and stop the bullies, not merely consoling their targets. Given the guy in the video, it is hardly likely he’s only bullying this one kid – who’s to say any of his other victims have a helping hand like that lady? And so what if they do? It’s a small consolation to have someone befriend you, but turn a blind eye to when you’re getting your face beaten in, only to appear later to pick you up off the ground. Rinse and repeat.
